Controlling Tomorrow

How can I ever control tomorrow;
when I can’t even change today?
Tomorrow brings even more sorrow;
all we can do is to pray.

It often seems that time has control,
over the events of man;
perhaps time’s an enemy of the soul;
can I ever avert time’s plan?

Is time a villain; referred to as destiny;
destroying us, with his lies;
does time decide what you’re to be;
the devil; wearing disguise.

All comes to be; in the fullness of time;
each minute is a part of the sum;
were told there’s a ladder, all must climb;
sometimes that time doesn’t come.

We cannot live; awaiting tomorrow;
for tomorrow may never come;
today is the day of happiness and sorrow;
tomorrow is life’s setting sun.

No day, created, is within our control;
yesterdays have all run amuck;
most look to tomorrow for their role;
many of us run out of luck.

We must spend our time living for today;
destiny is time’s ebb and flow;
the flow of time can’t be held at bay;
there is no controlling tomorrow.
