All of life began as an empty slate;
where all possible stories are written;
a veritable feast with an empty plate;
and nothing, on earth, was forbidden.
All new trees, devoid of their leaves;
the color of green; then introduced;
death, born; and then, all life grieves;
once dead, allowed reproduced.
The Master created the color of blue;
with it, He painted the sky and seas;
on His canvas, a highlight or two;
for the Master intended to please.
The Master made purple the color of royalty;
and bright red, the color of fire;
from all subjects, He expected loyalty;
and granted them all love’s desire.
First, the Master made all the land brown;
but, then covered it all with green;
allowing even weeds to cover the ground;
it was the most beautiful color, yet seen.
Jealousy, like weeds, sprang up in God’s garden;
coveting all that the Master was, or could be;
seizing all that God favored, required a pardon;
and green, then became, to represent envy.
In spite of it all, the Master still loves green;
throughout all life’s sorrows and strife;
it was still the most beautiful color, yet seen;
and the color of green represents life.
