Children Of Summer
Children Of Summer
We begin our lives; seeking the truth;
most of us, eager to learn;
as children, we demand to see proof;
for wisdom; most of us yearn.
Summer becomes the time for vacation;
a respite from knowledge is sought;
critical thinking has turned to stagnation;
forgetting whatever we’re taught.
Languishing in comfort; we become dumber;
no longer questioning what we’re told;
for we have become the children of summer;
and, remain so, as we grow old.
Many live their lives almost hypnotized;
believing that they understand;
with their personal heros nearly idolized;
and fools remain in command.
The children of Summer; become the sheep;
believing whatever they’re told;
while evil is most active; they are asleep;
especially; as they grow old.
No longer do we ever question authority;
willing to believe whatever is said;
bowing to anyone, claiming superiority;
accepting outrageous lies; instead.
Truth is readily available in any season;
faith in the creator; all must keep;
we need to resist this of loss of all reason;
as the children of summer sleep.
