Cell Phone Tyranny

I just bought a new cell phone today;
why is it I feel I’ve been played?
It seems I just can’t get it to work;
It’s more like a telephone arcade.

This is the second time I’ve tried;
getting this same phone from a vendor;
the night before, the first one died;
I guess it was a cell phone pretender.

Last night; the first with my second phone;
my expensive new phone went dead;
there I was with no phone, all alone;
but one, not working, instead.

What was I ever going to do;
every swipe or button; a mystery;
bright colors gave me a hypnotic view;
but a wrong touch and I’d be history.

All alone, with very incomplete instructions
to work; my knowledge would need to enlarge;
making swipes and pushing all its buttons;
I found my new costly phone was in charge.

Services and games; the bulk of its choices;
seemed it had a mind all its own;
and when I decided to ignore its voices;
it froze up; its screen turned to stone.

Two bad phones in a row;
there’s nothing else I can say;
there’s also no place, now to go;
they’re closed; and it’s Thanksgiving Day.
