Attrition
All life is really a battle of attrition;
all of evil arrayed against Good;
such is, as we deem life’s mission;
and it has always been understood.
The battle is about thought against feel;
for feelings are oft devoid of thought;
and Thought is the only reality that’s real;
while feelings can be sold and bought.
Thought is always at war with emotion;
such is what life is really about;
thought is a deeper form of devotion;
but emotion usually wins out.
Thought is filled with emotion too;
but it is deemed to be logical;
perceived only by emotion’s view;
the thinker becomes a prodigal.
So what is the ultimate conclusion to this;
does all life flow to an end;
is it meant to be an endless bliss;
or does it, to oblivion, descend?
It seems we regard life as the whole;
when actually, it is merely the part;
a temporary diversion for the soul;
that occasionally needs a restart.
For if it were to be neverending;
this book, we’d go to sleep, reading;
it’s not about attacking or defending;
rather; to a new book, proceeding.
