An Ode To Madeline

I met you at a most opportune time;
it seemed the Winter of a life;
it must have been of the Master’s design;
for I had lost both sons and a wife.

Divorce had been this life’s destiny;
separated from those I love;
you opened a new life quest for me;
one sanctioned from above.

The earth had opened up; and swallowed me;
my mind had no place to go;
there was no future, that I’d rather see;
and much, I needed to know.

I came to realize I was Destiny’s child;
a minuscule part of the Master’s plan;
I was to grow in a kingdom gone wild;
for loss was how gain began.

You taught me love was promises filled;
permanence had its role;
you were the woman, God had willed;
to foster the growth of my soul.

You were the artist; of consummate skill;
painting a new life for me;
becoming my wife; was the Master’s will;
I was your canvas, to be.

Evil chewed us up; and spit us both out;
bankruptcy became our new role;
we’d never dreamed what evil’s about;
till Evil had crushed our soul.

You were the angel, God sent to me;
inspiring me to laugh, love and cry;
God called, and you bent the knee;
accepting His will to die.
