An Angel Named Madeline
It was a time, in life, I’d lost my purpose;
nothing seemed to matter; any more;
though I thought I was in God’s service;
it seemed, demons closed the door.
Divorce had taken two sons and a wife;
I felt lost; with no place to go;
it seemed; I’d reached the end of life;
instead; God sent me to grow.
Ironically, I met a woman; living nearby;
she lived with her sister and mother;
there was the look of an angel in her eye;
she appeared elevated, like no other.
Madeline had no advanced education;
but, she was deceptively wise;
her artist skills; beyond imagination;
perhaps, an angel in disguise.
Madeline’s faith; was like no other;
she encouraged all of my writing;
support; an aphrodisiac from a lover;
made my quest more exciting.
“Everything happens for a reason.”
Madeline announced; as I sighed;
then, death became her final season;
and Madeline, my angel, died.
I feel that, in life, I let Madeline down;
in her name; I will finish this quest;
to most; my goal is the dream of a clown;
10,000 poems; before I rest.
