A Watched Pot Never Boils

It’s said; a watched pot never boils;
but, of course; we know it does;
and, to the victor, belongs the spoils;
but we say it; just because.

Sometimes the time becomes irrelevant;
it almost seems to stand still;
becoming reality’s white elephant;
a challenge to our will.

Only clock watchers really understand;
time really thinks he’s in charge;
we come and go, at time’s command;
we even take time to recharge.

But is time really the one in charge;
the angel, who’s in control;
perhaps; he’s a demon at large;
trying to conquer our soul.

A clock can be found in every home;
we worship at every tick or tock;
even whenever we’re home, alone;
we’re mesmerized by a clock.

Perhaps demons get the last laugh;
time whips us into control;
time is a member of the devil’s staff;
trying to conduct our soul.

Time wasn’t created to last forever;
to the victor belongs the spoils;
eventually time is a useless endeavor;
and the watched pot finally boils.
