A Tribute To A Small Town Icon
A Tribute To A Small Town Icon
There once was an icon in the middle of a town;
Mangas Cafateria was its name;
over the years; it became a restaurant of renoun;
deserving of its burgeoning fame.
An ordinary cuisene, served hot and nutricious;
on Sundays, always drawing a crowd;
all of their food, we found most delicious;
and all its patrons; civil; not loud.
One big happy family; it all came to be;
they came from near and far;
every weekend; the same people you’d see;
some walking; others by car.
The choices; the same as most families ate;
it was almost like a family convention;
the line, became long; you’d best not be late;
every meal, was well worth mention.
Mangas Cafeteria was a small town tradition;
where patrons, became family; as well;
most other places, offered little competition;
twas the place where families dwell.
The town’s population slowly diminished;
many customers eventually passed away;
a grandiose, family tradition; now finished;
and, no longer could see the light of day.
So many established local family traditions;
seemed to fade away as the founders died;
most didn’t occur; due to financial decisions;
they’re gone; from the death of pride.
