A Soul And His Shadow
The soul of a man once walked in the light;
followed closely by a shadow;
challenged by darkness of an endless night;
his soul, above; his body, below.
The man had been taught right from wrong;
all around him, was sin and violence;
lacking courage; in fear; the man went along;
conspicuous in his silence.
The man was faithful; at church; every week;
he even sang in his church choir;
he considered himself, one of the meek;
while within; he burned with desire.
While in church, he embodied a man of trust;
though others saw him as earthy;
the shadow of the soul could feel his lust;
the shadow knew; no man is worthy.
In time; the man confessed all of his sin;
his shadow was not deceived;
knowing the man would start over again;
his vow could not be believed.
The shadow condemned this man to death;
all the evil, within, must die;
God wiped away tears; till none were left;
for evil was in each eye.
The shadow was the angel of the Lord;
the man; both death and life;
evil was destined to fall on his sword;
the soul, returned to the Light.
