A Road Less Traveled

Most of us tend to follow some leader;
especially when life has us baffled;
others try to become a people-pleaser
very few seek a road less traveled.

There is much comfort, being a follower;
with always someone to blame;
it’s much more difficult being a scholar;
attaching works to your name.

Many like to become employed by another;
one who tells you what to do;
one who treats you like a sister or brother;
and thankful, when you come through.

Others, prefer to chart their own course;
leaving only themselves, to blame;
plodding along, much like a plow horse;
in search of wealth and fame.

Life is a wilderness with unpaved roads;
some of them; a mere dirt path;
often in their midst; gravel is exposed;
its bumps turn roads into wrath.

I’m now on a road; that I didn’t choose;
somehow, it seems, it chose me;
my life is no more about win, or lose;
it’s about what was meant to be.

Strangely, I’ve been given a gift to write;
a gift from God, above;
traveling my road on an endless night;
the road less traveled is love.
