A Lust For Applause

Love is the elixer for hope and dreams;
the link from one life to all;
living forever is not what it seems;
whether you’re great or small.

Many of us live in fear of rejection;
dreading the emptiness, alone;
without love; there is no perfection;
love makes a perfect home.

Throughout life; we find conformations;
it’s proof of affection, we seek;
though often inviting only confrontations;
all of it; a part of love’s mystic.

Victory is often our substitute for love;
in tribute, our glasses, we raise;
basking in the sunshine; from above;
a placebo for love is praise.

Many of us live in the shadows of sorrow;
desperate for a love to share;
languishing in the hope of a new tomorrow;
in hope that love will be there.

We live in a limelight of smiles and laughter;
basking in the sunshine of imagined love;
so much for that fable of happily ever after;
ultimate peace resides only above.

Meanwhile we seek out positive attention;
while upon life’s stage, we pause;
our mind is lured into another dimension;
as we lust for the sound of applause.
